Putting the Art in Par-tay

I'm a bit of an old fashioned homemaker type of mum.
Sometimes it leaves me doing things the hardest way possible, but I still do it with a smile, even if sometimes that smile is through gritted teeth.
Sometimes I wish I had the common sense most people have, and the ability to be able to let things go and do it the easy way, especially when I don't have the time or resources to do it "my way". Guess it's something I need to work on eh?

With that I leave you with my attack on The Golden Arches and Big Red.

What kind of parties do you host of your kids? What kind of party's do you enjoy taking your kids to?

  1. Wow! There you are. The big reveal.

I hate to say it but I had a Macca's party for Nugget when he was five. SO easy but you won't see me back again. Feral doesn't cover the behaviour of children post Macca's party. A one off for this family! x

  2. Where?! No reveal happening here, I am the master of disguise!
I think everyone has/will do a maccas party, it seems like a right of passage of sorts, and I agree that it's a pretty good route to go, no mess to clean up, nothing to set up, doesn't break the bank, but it just sucks for the person going there to have to stick around and listen to the screeching (And I found the boys were worse than the girls!)
Especially first thing on a Sunday morning.

  4. Hulloooooo! So lovely to hear your voice finally :) I'm quite anti Maccas parties but I just know we'll walk that path one day :P

  5. I'm anti Maccas parties (I used to host them), but I'm anti Maccas full stop. If it didn't have free wi-fi and cheap ice-cream I would never ever go.

I think if you're gonna spend the moneynto have someone hot your party, do it at one of those call play gyms where the kids get lost, and the food is better. But really nothing beats a homemade party.

Loving the nail polish, and the new blog makeover

  6. Ugh.  Maccas and bad manners seem to go hand in hand, don't they ?  Cool glasses :)

  7. My glasses are totally kick arse aren't they? May have to wear them to DPUnplugged so people will recognise me.

  8. I feel the most sorry for the people who go there for a Sunday morning family outing, or the one's hungover from the night befores drinks and are getting their grease fix, or the people who just wanted a cup of coffee from McCafe, suddenly they're overthrown by 15 screaming 6 year olds.

Thanks! I got a bit fidgety last week and funked up my nails.

  9. I'm sure we will too. We have only thrown 2 birthday parties between the 2 kids so far (first birthdays). Bluey will have one next year, but I will avoid them like the plague if I can, not because I don't like other kids, but it's all too much pressure and I figure if anyone has rights to enjoy my kids birthdays (after themselves of course) it's ME. Stupid perfectionism kinda screws around with that.

  10. I know they seem to be a bit of overkill. We went to a kids party at the local putt putt in July. Now THAT was fantastic! They had your typical party foods (arty pies, sausage rolls, nuggets etc.), some party games in the party room (like pin the tale on the donkey, moving a handful of m&m's into your cup using your straw, freeze) all before playing a round of putt putt.

  11. I'm not so secretly relieved that Macca's in our area, don't do parties! I can't stand the play areas at Maccas and there's no way in hell I'd make it through more than 3 minutes in the playground with screechy kids before I clawed my eyes out. The parents at K's school have had house parties, a party at the local indoor swimming pool, ten pin bowling and ice skating party.. the swimming one was good, although not great for anxiety and the ten pin was a drop off but the ice skating party was a disaster. Took an hour to drive there, ended abruptly with an ambulance being called for a little girls concussion and I wouldn't do it again.
