I know I am currently "on holiday", but I had to break it to bring you this quick post from me. It's thanks to the lovely Glowless from Where's My Glow . I know you are all already following her (You ARE aren't you?) so you will know what this is all about, and I am hoping you're on the bandwagon too because really, who needs flowers when you can have a little self esteem?
Loving myself, self respect, it's something I struggle with.
I have grown up with little support or encouragement, also being a target for bullies meaning that my self worth is distorted.
Thing is? I'm not that bad, yanno'?
My body was home to the two most important people in the world to me. It grew and nourished them both with little problem, and that is probably the most important thing it will ever do.
Despite my insomnia, my body copes pretty alright. I do get up every morning, and I do get things done. Sometimes it is a lot, other times it's just managing to make it from the bed to the lounge.
I have some pretty fucking awesome genetics or something because I am a junk food addict. Now, I DO tend to have an alright diet, my body naturally craves all the good stuff too, but my diet is filled with a lot of comfort foods. I eat whatever I feel like most the time, and despite this I sit in a very healthy weight range.
I also do very little exercise, and well...I'm not huffing and puffing when I walk around. Thanks for that body!
I have a touch of the cray-cray, but while it makes me bizarre, it also makes me wacky, and kids totally dig that shit. It's good if you need to distract a two year old mid tantrum.
I will laugh at almost anything! I can see the humour in everything, even though it often is inappropriate. This also means I will laugh at myself a fair bit. Yeah...life isn't fun if you can't have a good laugh at yourself.
I'm also pretty smart. I know, I know, who'd have thunk it? Despite never studying in my entire life, and always leaving assignments and the like till the night before, sometimes the morning it is due, I got some pretty fantaz grades. You should hear the murmurs of surprise every time I tell someone that I never went to uni.
I'm also a pretty kick ass mum. Yeah, I'm strict, but my kids are pretty well behaved. They have their kids moments, they're boys and like to wrestle, but they rarely fight, and they reign it in with a look from me, or a quiet word. Despite me being strict my kids adore me, confide in me, and seek out my companionship. We are best friends, how I fluked this I have no idea, but I hope the boys never outgrow it.
So come on, what's so fantastic about you? I know there's something....
You are the shiz. No wait, you are the shiz and a half! All this self loving and self respect has been amazing to read - I've seriously had the best day learning what everyone loves about themselves.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in gorgeous, your support is much appreciated xxx
Great post. I'm loving that most people are writing lists of things they love instead of just one thing. It's so uplifting and joyful and other postivie adjectives to read them all! Thanks for sharing.
